Why not ask the curator to present a program about them, and then ask the book club members to look at the exhibition and talk briefly about the books they loved, or why they didn't?

How about What Is?: Nine Epistemological Essays, by Johanna Drucker?  It is a small (127 p.) book (not an artist’s book, but beautifully designed) that is a nice amalgam of practical information and philosophical considerations concerning books, printing, graphics, digital information, both the history and the future of the book, very well written.  It’s not really “about” artists books, but of course Johanna Drucker is a very well-known book artist.   It is published by Cuneiform Press (2013) and distributed by Small Press Distribution, 1341 Seventh St., Berkeley, CA  94710-1409.

Collective wisdom,
Might anyone be able to recommend a book that is in someway connected to the topic of artists books, books as objects, history of the book etc. that is quite readable (and not too long) and lends itself to discussion?  I am attempting to connect an Art Book Club discussion to an upcoming exhibition of a book artist.  It can be any kind of writing, fiction, short stories, essays, non-fiction...

Thank you for any recommendations or insight!!

-Alison
