Greetings to you all,
After attending Saturday morning’s rich and provocative conference session,
The Politics of Change: Digital Humanities, it was evident that some of you who attended or could not attend would be interested in joining a digital tools group which was formed on HASTAC,
http://www.hastac.org/groups/art-history , last November at the Archives of American symposium/workshop
American Art History and Digital Scholarship: New Avenues of Exploration (This is a link to Diane Zorich’s report of the symposium
http://www.aaa.si.edu/files/publications/symposium-report2014_ArchivesofAmericanArt.pdf ; and you can watch archived footage of the symposium here
http://www.aaa.si.edu/symposium ).
At the workshop, held on the second day of the symposium, a tools group consisting of art historians, computer
scientists, archivists, librarians etc. . . decided that there is an ongoing need to connect potential digital scholars with digital tools. To that end, the group started a document which is to act as an Art History Digital Toolbox—a working document where
scholars can go and find tools which would work for different types of Art Historical Questions.
The working document has been posted for comments, use and additions by the Digital Art Historical community
on HASTAC (HASTAC is an online alliance of more than 12,500 humanists, artists, social scientists, scientists and technologists working together to transform the future of learning for the 21st century).
I invite all of you who are interested to join the HASTAC group, participate in the collaboration and share
your experiences (http://www.hastac.org/groups/art-history ).
Best regards,
Samantha
