Agreed. I don't see postings about a new book or a new catalogue to be any different than a new exhibition or event that a subscriber posts about. In both cases if I am not interested then I delete. If I am interested then I follow the link, save the email, forward to my colleagues or whatever method I choose to share and remember the information. I am on many listserves and most of what I receive I delete but that's because of my personal interests and not because the lists are cluttered with what is not allowed. There are methods to block and ban if posters continually don't follow the rules but no commercial postings from the ARLIS/NA members that help us be the organization we are does not make any sense to me. -----Original Message----- From: ARLIS/NA List [mailto:[log in to unmask]] On Behalf Of Jan Kellett Sent: Tuesday, April 15, 2014 1:19 PM To: [log in to unmask] Subject: Re: [ARLIS-L] Commercial postings Suggestion: Use the subject line to alert readers to the content, eg' Somesuch Press - new book' or 'A Somebody, bookseller catalogue.' Readers can then easily delete unwanted information without having to read it.
