This new exhibition, now on view at the Lewis Walpole Library in Farmington, CT, presents materials selected from the Library's collecting successes of the last fourteen years. A Collection's Progress: The Lewis Walpole Library, 2000-2014 Curated by Margaret K. Powell W.S. Lewis Librarian and Executive Director, the Lewis Walpole Library April 14 - October 3, 2014 When Wilmarth Sheldon Lewis left his library to Yale in 1979 Lewis thought of his gift not as a finished monument but as a living thing that required growth and change lest it become, in his words, “static and moldy.” The exhibition presents materials selected from the LWL’s collecting successes of the last fourteen years. Together the objects on display argue forcefully for the Library’s conquest of stasis and mold, and each speaks eloquently of another time, its politics and conflicts, its arts, fashions, and pastimes. http://www.library.yale.edu/walpole/programs/exhibitions.html http://www.library.yale.edu/walpole/images/exhibits/collections%20progress.jpg ______________________ Susan Odell Walker Head of Public Services The Lewis Walpole Library, Yale University 154 Main Street PO Box 1408 Farmington CT 06034 T: 860-677-2140 F: 860-677-6369 http://www.library.yale.edu/walpole/index.html Find us on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/TheLewisWalpoleLibrary Follow us on Twitter: @LewisWalpoleLib<https://twitter.com/LewisWalpoleLib> ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Mail submissions to [log in to unmask] For information about joining ARLIS/NA see: http://www.arlisna.org/join.html Send administrative matters (file requests, subscription requests, etc) to [log in to unmask] ARLIS-L Archives and subscription maintenance: http://lsv.arlisna.org Questions may be addressed to list owner (Judy Dyki) at: [log in to unmask] ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
