I am a MLIS student and my background is in classical art and archaeology. I think art or visual resources librarianship is a great career path for archaeology students interested in the digital humanities.
Don't forget, though, that Classics librarianship is an option! The American Philological Association has a forum for Classics libraries and librarians: http://www.classicslibrarians.org. The librarian
who originally inspired me to consider librarianship maintains a Classics librarian blog: http://classicslibrarian.wordpress.com. She has a background in classical archaeology and would be a great
resource for more information on how to discuss librarianship to archaeology students.
I would also be happy to share my reasons for shifting from archaeology to librarianship, if you are interested. Feel free to contact me off list!

The archaeology graduate students here at BU are having a panel on careers and asked me to talk about librarianship.
I know some of you have multiple subject areas that include archaeology.
I also know some of you are doing really interesting projects such as digitizing materials.
I’d love to hear from you—nothing lengthy—on or offlist.
Thanks,
Ruth Thomas, Mugar Library, Boston University
