Please excuse cross-postings ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ *Please join the Environmental Design Archives* *at the opening reception for the exhibit:* *A Handful of Clay: The Legacy of Edith Heath* From just a handful of clay, ceramicist Edith Heath pioneered a design aesthetic that continues to inspire today and earned her a rare AIA gold medal for a non-architect. Her focus on simplicity, functionality, and durability blends the line between daily use and Sunday best and continues to have a lasting impact on the design community. Heath products, from tile to stoneware, have been recognized internationally for their quality and vision. The exhibition explores her life as an artist and ceramicist, as well as her collaborations with architects. Materials come from the Environmental Design Archives, the Brian and Edith Heath Foundation, and Heath Ceramics. *Thursday, May 22, 2014 * 7:00 pm Lecture by Heath Biographer Jennifer Doublet followed by a panel discussion *RSVP to 510-642-5124 or [log in to unmask] <[log in to unmask]>* Environmental Design Library, Volkmann Reading Room 210 Wurster Hall, University of California, Berkeley For Directions: http://www.lib.berkeley.edu/hours Curators: Jessie Durant and Emily Vigor -- Emily Vigor, Archivist Environmental Design Archives University of California 230 Wurster Hall #1820 Berkeley, CA 94720-1820 510.643.7613 www.ced.berkeley.edu/cedarchives ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Mail submissions to [log in to unmask] For information about joining ARLIS/NA see: http://www.arlisna.org/join.html Send administrative matters (file requests, subscription requests, etc) to [log in to unmask] ARLIS-L Archives and subscription maintenance: http://lsv.arlisna.org Questions may be addressed to list owner (Judy Dyki) at: [log in to unmask] ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
