2014 Gerd Muehsam Award
On behalf of the Gerd Muehsam Award Subcommittee, I’m pleased to announce that this year’s winner of the Gerd Muehsam Award is Jasmine Burns for her essay
“Digital Facsimiles and the Modern Viewer: Medieval Manuscripts and Archival Practice in the Age of New Media.”
Established to honor the memory of Gerd Muehsam (1913-1979), a distinguished scholar, teacher, art bibliographer, and supporter of ARLIS/NA, the Gerd Muehsam Award is given
annually in recognition of excellence in a graduate student paper or project on a topic relevant to art librarianship.
Jasmine is pursuing a career as a Visual Resources Librarian and is currently enrolled in the MLIS, Archives/Archival Administration program at the
University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. She’ll be presenting her paper, written as a Master’s thesis in Art History at Binghamton University, State University of New York,
at the upcoming ARLIS/NA conference in Washington, D.C., as part of the New Voices in the Profession Panel on Sunday, May 4, 2014.
