of Congress Packard Campus for Audio-Visual Conservation
We're surprised there are spots left! Chapter members had been asking for years to visit this exclusive audio and video collection and
our tour did not disappoint! From vaults filled with Hollywood classics to elaborate systems of servers and robots to deliver remote content back to DC, this is a fascinating glimpse into state-of-the-art technology to preserve our country’s audio and motion
picture/video history.

Hon! Baltimore’s Best Arts and Culture
What DC might lack in quirky character, Baltimore has in abundance! Get out of the button-down world of DC and into funky Charm City, hometown of David
Byrne, Philip Glass, Nancy Pelosi, John Waters, Bill Frisell, Ann Tyler, Jeff Koons, Adrienne Rich, Anne Truitt, Frank Zappa… my goodness, who knew?? Take a day trip to visit the
American Visionary Art Museum, a one-of-a-kind collection of outsider and visionary art near the Inner Harbor (also featuring the most delightful museum shop, hands down.) Afterwards, grab lunch in the Hampden
neighborhood and head on to either the
Baltimore Museum of Art or the
Walters Art Museum for their first class collections.

Vernon and the Pope-Leighey House
Even if you went to
Mount Vernon on a school trip years ago, you owe it to yourself to take another look since the addition of the museum and education center and the reconstruction of the distillery, as well as continuous
restoration to the buildings and grounds. The gardens will be open and lunch on the beautiful terrace is recommended. The visit to Mount Vernon is paired with Woodlawn Plantation’s
Pope-Leighey House, designed by Frank Lloyd Wright. The Usonian-design house is clad in cypress, brick, and glass and has twice been relocated for preservation.

Estate, Museum and Garden
Tucked into a beautiful neighborhood of Northwest Washington,
Marjorie Merriweather Post’s mansion and gardens are a delight to visitors. Featuring the
most comprehensive collection of Russian imperial art outside of Russia paired with stunning 18th century decorative arts and French furnishings, the home is packed with stunning objects. The surrounding property features
a collection of
beautiful gardens in a variety of styles as well as two charming structures, the Dacha and the Adirondack building, used for special exhibitions.

Cemetery Tour
Walking tours of two of DC’s most famous cemeteries,
Congressional and
Oak Hill, will appeal to those with an interest in history, in DC, in the macabre! Featuring not only notable names, these cemeteries are
the place to spend your afterlife (a resting place for local luminaries of national import) and your corporeal life (an enjoyable outdoor place for living residents and even… their dogs.) Ante-bellum cemetery Congressional, on Capitol Hill, features
structures by Benjamin Latrobe while Oak Hill is a rural-style cemetery tucked into the Georgetown Hillside. Don’t miss the opportunity to venture into two long-established DC neighborhoods for this unique tour.
