Mark your calendars for an upcoming lunchtime chat, organized by ARLIS/NA’s Professional Development Education Subcommittee. Chats are free and anyone may attend; please forward to anyone who may be interested.

Library Instruction for Museum Docents

Friday, March 28th, 2014

11am Pacific - 12pm Mountain - 1pm Central - 2pm Eastern

Guests:

Linda Seckelson, Senior Reader Services Librarian, Metropolitan Museum of Art

Melanie Emerson, Head of Reader Services, Art Institute of Chicago

Lou Adrean, Head, Research and Public Programs, Cleveland Museum of Art

Alba Fernández-Keys, Head of Libraries & Archives, Indianapolis Museum of Art

Please join us for an informal and informative discussion on providing library instruction to museum docents. Volunteer docents play a vital role in implementing a museum’s educational mission by guiding groups of all ages on a variety of tours of collections and exhibitions. Library training enhances both the quality of docent training and their presentations to members of the public. Museum librarians Linda, Melanie, Lou, and Alba will facilitate an interactive conversation in which attendees may learn more about their training programs as well as share their own experiences and ask questions about library instruction for museum docents.

The URL for this chat will be announced on ARLIS-L the morning of Friday, March 28th. Hope to see you there!
