It is with great pleasure that I can announce that the Samuel H. Kress Foundation has given the Art Libraries Society of North America a multi-year grant to fund an initiative for international travel to promote the exchange of ideas and information. The Samuel H. Kress Foundation International Travel Award will support bringing select arts information professionals together at annual conferences that will enhance connections that can lead to national and international projects and initiatives.

The award will provide funding to assist European librarians and art information professionals to attend the annual conferences of the Art Libraries Society of North America (ARLIS/NA) and  for ARLIS/NA members to attend the International Federation of Library Associations and Institutions (IFLA) and other European art library conferences.  In 2014, ARLIS/NA will meet in Washington, DC from May 1-5 and IFLA will hold their World Congress in Lyon, France from August 16-22 with the IFLA Art Libraries Satellite Conference in Paris from August 12-14. The generous grant from the Kress Foundation will allow ARLIS/NA to make multiple grants to conference participants with the minimum award  at $1000 (USD).

The deadline to apply for the Samuel H. Kress Foundation International Travel Award is March 19th. Due to the short time between this announcement and the deadlines for applications, only e-mail submissions will be accepted. Please visit the ARLIS/NA website at http://www.arlisna.org/about/awards/awards_index.html  for more application guidelines and forms.

On behalf of the Executive Board of the Art Libraries Society of North America, I offer my deep thanks to the Samuel H. Kress Foundation and its President, Max Marmor, for funding the remarkable initiative that will benefit art information professionals on both sides of the Atlantic.

Sincerely,

Gregory P. J. Most
