Dear collective wisdom,

I'm drafting recommendations for a local community archive that seeks to preserve and archive a small (>50 items) collection of de-stuffed silk pillows from the 40s. Each pillow has been embroidered with silk and cotton thread. Due to space restrictions, it would be ideal to store all 40ish pillows in one archive box, with a layer of silk-safe paper between each pillow.

I've been looking into public documents that address fabric storage in archives. Does anyone on the list have any tips for storing silk? We have some funding to order special materials to better archive these pillows; I'm not sure if one type of insulating material works better, or if the fabric needs to be treated in any way. I've not worked with this material before - or any fabric, really - so any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Dan
