The folded over pages are intentional and integral to the book. There are
no images or text inside these folds. Cutting these pages would be
damaging the book.

If people who have the book are interested in reading more, the quote in
the RISD catalog from the book?s designer is from a longer interview with
him on the Aperture website:
http://www.aperture.org/blog/interview-with-hans-gremmen/.

Take care ?

Hi Moira,

We have this book in our collection and in the description by the
designer, the folded pages on the top are intentional. Please see the link
to our catalog record: Ametsuchi

I would definitely not slice the pages if the integrity of the design is
to be maintained, even though it is difficult to read that way.

All my best,

Laurie

Greetings all and Happy New Year to everyone!
I have a dilemma that I hope you can help me with.

I just received a book (Ametsuchi by Rinko Kawauchi) in which most of the
tops of the pages are uncut as if the book guillotine didn't slice them
properly. I want to separate the pages because there are images on
"inside" of the fold (i.e., between the two attached pages) that the
reader cannot otherwise see. However, I'm not sure it's supposed to be
like that or if it's a binding error.

Any comments? Suggestions? Advice?

Thanks in advance.
