I am working on collecting CRs for Classics faculty.

I can not explain why the graphs show huge numbers except perhaps WoS includes a multiplier effect--by which I mean the cited references to the article that cited the original article.  For example, a CR search by cited author produces 135 cites but the graphs are showing 400 and 500.

WoS help and info do not answer the question.

I would be grateful for an explanation from someone who uses WoS "analytics."
