Dear fellow ARLISians with digital collections responsibilities,

Does anyone out there use a digital content management system other than CONTENTdm that you are pleased with? Must accommodate text, image, sound, and possibly video.

Hennepin County Library Special Collections has been digitizing materials for over ten years, but our digital content does not happily live in one location. We've got a house-made database for our photographs, yearbooks and directories hosted by a third party on ResCarta, and still other materials in the Minnesota Digital Library's CONTENTdm. Digitization has rapidly increased in our library and we need a new home for all our stuff.

While CONTENTdm has been our first choice, it's expensive and the county is pushing for us to use FileNet, a content management system produced by IBM, used mostly for records management, and already in use by the county. Has anyone heard of FileNet being used for publicly accessible digital collections? Luna Digital Imaging is another digital CMS that has been suggested.

Any feedback or other suggestions?

And thanks again to all who supplied feedback on book scanners. We'll be getting the BookEye3 early next year!

Thanks!
Bailey
