Dear ARLIS/NA Colleagues,

A joint VRA + ARLIS/NA Task Force is currently at work preparing an updated
revision of the professional standards document titled “Criteria for the
Hiring and Retention of Visual Resources
Professionals<http://www.collegeart.org/guidelines/resources>”
(originally adopted 1995; revised 2002).

In order to assess the current state of the profession, and elicit
perceptions about visual resources professionals and the services they
provide, the Task Force distributed a users’ survey this past spring to the
College Art Association (CAA) membership. We were particularly interested
in receiving responses from teaching faculty, and were pleased that 249 CAA
members with instructional duties completed our survey.

The Task Force would now like to correlate these CAA responses with
information and perceptions from our own membership. We request a few
moments of your time to complete the following brief mini-survey focusing
on image collections in your organization and on services provided by
visual resources professionals to your patrons or other clients.

Your responses to this survey will help the Criteria Revision Joint Task
Force assess the current state of the profession, and provide important
updates to the statistics contained in the VRA’s 2007 Professional Status
Survey.

More than one employee from an organization may participate in this survey;
however, be advised that SurveyMonkey allows only one submission from each
computer address. You are welcome to share this message and link with art
library colleagues who are not ARLIS/NA members.

This survey will remain open from *Friday, November 1 through Wednesday,
November 20, 2013*.

Thanks in advance for taking the time to provide us with this vital
information!
