I emailed this list several weeks ago about our quest to
purchase the Lexicon Iconographicum Mythologiae Classicae (LIMC) reference
set.
The information you all provided so quickly was invaluable,
and I am so thankful for this list and the knowledgeable people who follow it
and respond to the posts! The information you provided made me realize that
the chances of us purchasing this set, for any amount of money, were quite
slim, and we needed to pursue a different avenue for access.
One of our partner academic libraries in Ohio, Ohio
University, has kindly agreed to lend us the entire set for three weeks, which
we will keep on reserve. The faculty member who requested it is going to bring
her students to the library and teach them to use it, and they will have an
assignment to complete over the three week period of the loan. This is such a
wonderful example of libraries working together to make the priceless
information we have available to those who need or want it.
I just wanted to share the outcome with the list, and thank
all of you who contributed answers to my original post.
