As a member of the ARLIS/NA Communications and Publications Committee (CPC), the Media Relations Coordinator
will manage public awareness of ARLIS/NA initiatives, events, and other
programs. The Coordinator will deliver key messages to external
audiences about the value of the Society’s mission to foster excellence
in art and design librarianship and image management, as well as all
supporting activities. The Media Relations Coordinator will also
work in conjunction with association management company and other
ARLIS/NA committees to plan and implement tools to increase ARLIS/NA’s
profile outside its current membership and core audience.
Duties:
-Actively investigate new strategies and opportunities for outreach and communication through all forms of media.
-Enhance effectiveness of press and publicity function.
-Work
with various chairs, moderators, coordinators, and other ARLIS/NA
leadership to ensure timely and effective dissemination of information
and news.
-Coordinate with Association Manager and publication partners to promote ARLIS/NA's activities and publications.
-Liaison with AWS Editor, News & Features Editor, and Association
Manager in order to develop effective communication policies to ensure
messaging continuity.
-Shape the prominence and role of ARLIS members in the media.
-Ensure press releases are generated and delivered in a timely matter to relevant outlets.
-Maintain and update media contact list.
