DEADLINE EXTENDED: ARLIS/NA Midstates Chapter 2014 Travel Awards Announcement NOW DUE DECEMBER 9TH! On behalf of the ARLIS/NA Midstates Chapter, the awards committee is please to accept applications for TWO awards that will support members’ professional development! The William C. Bunce Award of $600 for travel to the ARLIS/NA Annual Conference<http://www.arlisna.org/washingtondc2014/index.php> in Washington, DC, May 1-5, 2014. This award is given in honor of William C. Bunce, who served as the Director of the Kohler Art Library at the University of Wisconsin-Madison from 1966 to 1999. The William C. Bunce ARLIS/NA-Midstates Travel Award is intended to support a chapter member’s professional development by providing funding to attend the ARLIS/NA annual conference. Only ARLIS/NA-Midstates Chapter members are eligible. This Travel Award will be granted based on one or more of the following criteria: financial need; level of chapter participation; first-time attendance; and contribution to the conference. In addition to the Bunce Travel Award, the ARLIS/NA Midstates Chapter is pleased to offer the SEI Travel Award. The annual 3.5 day ARLIS/NA-VRAF Summer Educational Institute for Visual Resources and Images delivers workshops on current issues for VR professionals, as well as many opportunities to network with colleagues. This year SEI will be held from June 10-13, 2014 at the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign and the SEI Travel Award of $300 is meant to offset the registration cost by half. Only ARLIS/NA-Midstates Chapter members are eligible. This Travel Award will be granted based on one or more of the following criteria: financial need; level of chapter participation; and relevance of the curriculum to professional development. To apply for these awards please submit a letter of application indicating which award you are applying for, relevant award criteria, and how you will benefit from attending ARLIS/NA Annual Conference in Washington or SEI at the University of Illinois. You must indicate the level of funding you expect to receive from your institution and include a current resume or CV. The application deadline for both awards is EXTENDED! New due date Monday, December 9, 2013. Recipients will be notified by December 20, 2013. The recipient must confirm in writing that they will be able to use the award for conference attendance. Award recipients will not be eligible to apply again for three years. After receiving the award, the recipient must submit a short report indicating the value of the award to their professional development activities. Both of these awards are intended for members of the ARLIS/NA Midstates Chapter.
