Interesting and timely…is the Grolier Club still all men? I remember we had a tour of that library at the NYC conference, and it seemed odd to recall their Men Only stance….and my father was once a member!!

For instance, I recently attended a lecture where the speaker was introduced and celebrated as a long standing member of the Club of Odd Volumes, which restricts its membership to only men in the library world. Saddly the audience was 4/5 women in the library world. I was just thinking it might be time...

In honor of the march on Washington this week, I would like to propose that our organization stop accepting members who belong to restricted clubs and organizations within our field. And that we stop having speakers and giving awards to members of clubs that discriminate on the basis of race, gender, or religion.
