Hello all,
We are seeking information on an artist whose name appears to be Lumie or Lunie. This signature appears on an oil painting which was a gift to the college about 1960; the painting was given by one of our past presidents, James M. Read, who was the U.N. Deputy High Commissioner for Refugees, 1951-1959. A former dean told me that it was a painting of a mother and child who were refugees. The painting is in blacks and browns and shows the side view of the mother turned away from the viewer and facing the child.
Our art biographical sources are limited here and my Google searches turned up nothing. If anyone has a moment to check basic sources, we would really appreciate it.
