Dear Friends-

I’ve recently been asked to place and insurance value on our library & archives collections. I am familiar with the ARL Spec Kit on Insuring and Valuing Research Library Collections and have found very helpful information in the ARLIS-L archives on the topic of library materials.  Is there anyone who has gone through this process recently?  If so, I would love to chat with you.

For those of you who also oversee the institutional archives, do you know of any resources that address how to value an archives collection?  This is a topic that I am much less familiar with.  Might it be a better idea to assign the cost of “saving” the collection in case of damage as there is no possibility of replacement?

As always, thank you for your help,

Alba
