Call for Host Sites for the VRAF Internship Award
The VRA Foundation Internship Award Committee is now calling for potential host sites for the recipient of the 2013-2014 Kress-funded VRAF internship award. The award grants $3,000 to support a period of internship in archives, libraries, museums, visual resources collections in academic institutions, or other appropriate contexts. The student will provide 200 hours of service to a visual resources collection at an appropriate host institution.
If you and your institution are interested in a student who has completed at least 10 credits of course work in Library/Information Science, Art History, Architecture or Architectural History, Visual or Studio Art, Museum Studies, or other applicable fields of study working in your facility during the Fall, Winter, or Spring of 2013-2014, please complete the form posted in the grants section of the VRAF web site at http://vrafoundation.org.s119319.gridserver.com/index.php/grants/internship_award/.
All that is required is your contact information and a brief description of the internship opportunity. A list of potential sites will be added to the web site to help potential awardees find an internship focused on visual resources and image management in their geographical area. Please send inquiries and/or e-mail the completed form to:  Maureen Burns, at [log in to unmask]. We plan to compile this quickly so that we can get the call for internship applicants out soon and place the intern during the 2013-2014 academic year. It would be appreciated if you can send this information by June 20th. Detailed application information for internship applicants will be released shortly thereafter.
We hope that you will consider hosting a one-year pilot internship while the VRAF develops the program. Although there will only be one intern award in 2013-2014 and one hosting site selected, the VRAF Internship Award Committee will be working with the VRA Education Committee on expanding this resource list and sustaining the program. Thank you for your consideration.

The VRA Foundation is excited to be able to support the education and practical training of emerging information professionals through the implementation of this new internship award.
