Transportation tips: Getting to the Conference hotels

Our conference website has listed information about the choices available at each of the airports that are closest to Pasadena. We highly recommend that you review the options listed at http://www.arlisna.org/pasadena2013/about.html and determine what best serves your needs. From LAX to Pasadena is about 46 miles, so taxis are an expensive option, probably $100. Shuttles are more reasonably priced. Most of the shuttle services have similar price ranges and none of us locals who have used their services can recommend one over the other. One option that is not listed on our website is http://shuttletolax.com/. They have a $20 one-way flat rate fee. Please note that many of the shuttles offer reduced rates for additional passengers so if you are traveling with a colleague or in a larger group, you may want to seriously consider booking one of the shuttle services in advance. With the right number of passengers, you could end up in your own private vehicle!

One of the most cost effective options from LAX is the FlyAway bus to downtown Los Angeles' historic Union Station: http://www.lawa.org/welcome_lax.aspx?id=4696. The LAX FlyAway offers convenient, regularly scheduled round-trip service, 7 days a week. Fare is just $7 per passenger each way. No reservations required. [Early morning and weekend departure hours may vary.] Using the secure passenger ticket system, you can book one-way or round-trip: https://efleet.digital-dispatch.com/bauerslax/

When you arrive at Union Station, you can take the Gold Line to Pasadena and exit at Del Mar Station. The Sheraton is only 3 blocks away and the Hilton just a block further. It's a short walk, about .12 miles, but if you prefer to take a cab from the station it will cost you about $5. Details are at http://www.cityofpasadena.net/Transportation/LAX_to_Pasadena/.

If you are flying in to Burbank you can take the Metrolink to Union Station and follow the same route as above once there. Details are at http://www.burbankairport.com/parking/buses-trains.html. However, please note the Metrolink does not offer service to Union Station from Burbank on the weekend. One of our locals always swears by the SuperShuttle when flying to and from Pasadena via Bob Hope Airport in Burbank.
