The MoMA Library is currently cataloging the nine MoMA publications available from the iBookstore:

Here’s our record for the ebook version of MoMA collection highlights:

Actually, we also just acquired a title from the new ebook version from the Conversations series released by the Fundación Cisneros:

To access these titles, we’re making iPads available in our reading room to researchers. Our current thinking is to tether a couple of iPads to tables next to our reference desk. So we’re dipping our toes into the iPad pool. I’d be curious to hear from others who are doing the same.

Some questions:

•    How are you making iPads available to researchers?

•    Are they being used? If so, how are they being used? For general surfing or for in-depth research use?

•    Are you cataloging individually bought ebooks or adding records for iBooks (or other device specific ebooks) to your local system? Searching in WorldCat yielded very few examples of iBook format records. I realize the iBook format poses real challenges to libraries regarding circulation, statistics, portability, etc.

•    Are you cataloging apps?

•    Any suggestions for an aesthetically pleasing iPad lock or kiosk setup?

•    When ebooks are distributed on multiple platforms (Kindle, Nook, iBookstore), are you favoring one platform over another?

•    Statistics keeping for iBook reads appears to be non-existent. Have you found a way to track views of specific titles?

I just saw the survey on tablets message come in (good timing!), so I will be sure to look at that, too. Thanks in advance for any feedback you can share.
