The ARLIS Texas-Mexico Chapter announces Annie Sollinger, volunteer at the University of Texas at Austin Fine Arts Library and recent graduate of the School of Information at
UT, as the recipient of the 2013 Lois Swan Jones Professional Development Award. The $500 award will support expenses related to attending her first ARLIS/NA annual conference in Pasadena, April 25-29, 2013. Along with taking advantage of a broad selection
of conference programming, she also plans on volunteering. Annie will be writing about her conference experience in the issue of the chapter’s newsletter,
The Medium, that follows the conference.
The award, named in 1992 to honor Lois Swan Jones, Professor Emerita of Art History at the University of North Texas and charter member of the Texas Chapter, supports and encourages
the participation of an ARLIS/Texas-Mexico Chapter member at the ARLIS/NA annual conference by helping defray conference expenses. Professor Jones was the author of several standard works on art information research methods and a recipient of the 1996 ARLIS/NA
Distinguished Service Award. The combination of her enthusiasm, commitment to education, and love for art history serves as a model for art information professionals.
