Description: Scholars Resource offers a new set of sculpture and painting from one of the multi-talented giants of art history, Gian Lorenzo Bernini. Under the patronage of cardinals and popes Bernini is credited with pushing the boundaries of artistic tradition to a new level with a dramatic natural realism, the illusion of movement, use of the play of light and textural depth, and the capture of a narrative moment to create a new Baroque style in sculpture. Scholars Resource offers here a set of Bernini's sculpture and painting, to be complemented soon by an additional set of monumental works including his famed Baldacchino and Cathedra Pietra, as well as fountains, tombs, and both ecclesiastical and secular architecture.
