Scholars Resource would like to draw your attention to the second part of
the Image Set on Bernini:

CDR-1162: SR Set: Gian Lorenzo Bernini: Fusion of the Arts in Monumental
Works
In this second set of work by Gian Lorenzo Bernini Scholars Resource offers
examples that illustrate his ground-breaking move to an innovative
unification of architecture, sculpture and painting in his monumental work.
Some works in our Bernini sculpture set, such as the Ecstasy of St. Theresa,
reappear here more fully as examples of the unification the arts as well as
for their dramatic use of light, use of polychrome marble, and theatrical
design. We also include the combined architectural structure and monumental
sculpture of Bernini's incomparable Baldacchino, as well as monumental tombs
in St Peter's, dynamic sculptural fountains, and other works of
architecture, culminating in the grand embrace of the colonnade of the
Piazza of St Peter's. Reference used: Rudolf Wittkower, Art and Architecture
in Italy, 1600-1750. February 2013
