Dear Erika,

I am a bit surprised that no-one at UCLA or Stanford or UC Berkeley has
this information, and in any case would also know what copies are in the
California library system.

But I recognize your need. The person to contact for a list of currently
published Chinese language translations is Dr SHAO Yiyang at the Central
Academy of Fine Arts in Beijing. I only have her personal email so I
will contact her directly and see what can be done. I will also ask for
her official email if she has one, but Chinese scholars sometimes avoid
using that.

You might want your library to order my new book as attached.

Best regards to all of your brood,

John

Hi John: In my role as librarian at LACMA, I am on listservs for art
librarians. We often get these kinds of questions. I just thought you
might know of some resources in Chinese for art history texts.

Hope all's well with you!

Cheers,

Erika

Subject: [ARLIS-L] Chinese language art history materials

Dear all,

Our department has quite a few Chinese international students who have
been struggling with our introductory/intermediate art history courses,
so we are in search of some simplified Chinese language translations of
art history texts for the following classes:

Art 221 - Art History: Pre History - Middle Ages
Art 222 - Art History: Africa, Asia, Oceania
Art 223 - Art History: Renaissance-Present

We don't always use the same textbook from year to year, so any
text-book type resources on these subjects that are in simplified
Chinese would be useful to students. Does anyone have experience
purchasing or having such materials translated? If so, I would be very
grateful for any tips, suggestions, or resources.

Thank you in advance!

Heather Lowe
