I seem to have missed the image search altogether and have been relying 
on captions to find images ever since JSTor severed relations with 
ARTstor.

Just as bad from my point of view is that when you open JSTOR you are 
told you are
searching for "Journals, primary sources, and NOW books."

Maybe my library has not subscribed to the books component--I just 
posed the question on our Refnews list. I can not find books or 
pamphlets.  Has anyone been successful in this regard?
