I know most ARLIS libraries have it, but f you've been putting off
getting a copy of the hardcover edition of The
Art of American Book Covers: 1875-1930 (recipient of the 2011
Worldwide Books Award for Publications from ARLIS), I'd suggest
getting it now from Worldwide Books, your local bookstore, or online.
The publisher, George Braziller, just informed me there are only 50
copies left in the warehouse and it will not be issued again in
hardcover (this is the second printing). If you want to wait until
next summer and pay a little less, a paperback
edition will be coming out. But it won't be in that beautiful
gold-on-red-cloth binding that revives the technique of textured die
stamping that was developed over a hundred years ago.
Below are pix of both editions.
