I first met Wolfgang when he was president of ARLIS-NA and I was just beginning my journey into the art museum library world back in the 80s. I was a newcomer to the art library world attending my first ARLIS/NA Conference. He was both kind and supportive to me and I continued to enjoy his company, his kindness, his humour and his ability to pick a good restaurant over the years. Some of my best international memories are the "end of IFLA dinners" which a group of us shared on the last day of IFLA when Wolfgang was present. Of course, he also had a great professional influence on me and so many other art librarians. He personified the professional, generous, scholarly and enjoyable world I entered when I joined the international art librarians' domain. I shall continue to think of him with admiration and gratitude. Margaret J.
