Hi Heather,
At PNCA we built our own repository software from open
source tools. It's called Mimi, and supports most file types including
sound and video. We also have the thesis students (graduates and undergraduates) upload their papers
and supporting material (mostly documentation of the artwork and
presentations) into albums. I showed this software at the last ARLIS/NA
conference in Toronto. This repository is used for many other purposes
such as documentation of visiting artists, collections and events at
PNCA and at our museum, the Museum of Contemporary Craft. There's oral
history, archival photographs, and lots of student work. All of the
files displayed on our Web properties are actually stored in Mimi. The
archive is open only to the PNCA community. We're working on scanning
and cataloging our theses from the pre-digital age, but it will take
some time to get these in as they date back many decades.
Please let me know if you have any questions.
Regards,
Dan
Hi Heather,At the University of the Arts, we are in the planning stages for a retrospective digitization of our master's theses. We will be using our CONTENTdm system for this purpose. We will be providing access to the theses according to our intellectual property policy which provides the University with the right to archive student work as well as to use it non-commercially in order to promote the University and its programs.Carol

If you have worked on these issues and have developed policies for access at your own institution, would you get in touch with me sometime soon? We’ll be working with our Scholarly Communications Officer on this, but I’m interested in hearing what other institutions have done with their digital MFA art theses.
Thanks!
