This is very useful and clearly laid out. Just one observation: taking the latest issue of the Oxford Style Manual as an example of good practice – underlining was suitable for typewriters but now that everyone uses word processors might it not be a good idea to standardise the use of italics? Nevertheless, many thanks to Christine for a job well done.

Best wishes,

Richard

Subject: [ARLIS-L] Style Manual examples for art history

Colleagues:

Last spring many of you kindly directed me to examples of art-history style manual formats.  My purpose was to create a sample list for students at Duke to use when the bibliographic editors did not provide a specific example.  Christine Bachman, an assistant at our library, assembled a page of examples for art history publications--using the work wherever possible of Duke faculty, http://guides.library.duke.edu/content.php?pid=47673&sid=351285

Some of the formats created were necessarily “best guesses”.  Both of us would be grateful for comments or corrections.

A big thanks to Christine.
