On My Own Time: A Community Arts Program in Central New York

Speaker: Tina Chan, Reference & Instruction Librarian, State University of New York at Oswego

On My Own Time is an event that celebrates the creative talent of faculty and staff who are visual artists “on their own time.”  On My Own Time is a community arts program for Central New York’s businesses and organizations to promote an appreciation of the arts and to recognize workforce creativity.  SUNY Oswego participated in On My Own Time to recognize employees’ individual artistic talents and to foster imagination and creativity among employees.  The coordinators of this event are Penfield Library’s art librarian and Tyler Art Gallery’s assistant director.  Faculty and staff submitted their artwork that was displayed in the library.  During this time, a panel of volunteer judges professionally involved in the arts adjudicated this in-house exhibit, with selected pieces to be included in the Everson Museum of Art.
