Hello all! Is anyone interested in contributing to a session on the use of graphic novels/comics/cartoonists' works in instruction and outreach? I'm in the nascent stages of building a new collection and developing such a program, but would like to hear if and how others are doing the same. It would be interesting to expand the topic to include instruction outside of art & design departments- using graphic novels and comics in history courses, feminist studies, math and science disciplines, etc. (especially as many of us work with multiple subject areas). The definition of graphic novel/comic may be broadly applied too, of course, including zines, minicomics, and other small-press materials. Feel free to contact me on- or off-list if you're interested (or already developing a similar proposal)!
