Hello ARLIS,

Help Reference and Information Services Section develop a session or
sessions for the 2013 conference in Pasadena! Do you have a paper idea
relating to any of the topics listed below? (These were the ideas generated
during the RISS meeting in Toronto.)

Here are our suggested themes:

   - Assessing reference services: How is your library evaluating reference
transactions? What about new methods such as chat and text reference or
reference appointments? How have evaluations impacted the services you
   provide?

   - The expanded role of the art librarian: Many art librarians now also
have liaison duties that fall beyond the scope of fine arts and art history
training. Conversely, our non-art librarian colleagues are more regularly
called upon to assist art students and faculty with reference questions.
How are you preparing for reference and instruction responsibilities that
fall outside of your subject specialty? How do you cross-train your
colleagues in arts reference? Are you working with other departments on
digital humanities or other cross disciplinary projects that reflect the
   shift in our profession?

Please email me at [log in to unmask] with with a rough draft of your
proposed topic. We would like to have any ideas by June 20 so we have time
to shape the session proposals.

Thank you!
Emilee
