Hi Jessica:

Just finally got around to checking out the redesigned website--which is amazing!  It's wonderful to have the American Craft Council's history so available!  I also sent the link to the CAFAM article to my family and my Internet-savvy son put it up on his and my Facebook page.  I wrote a reply ("comment") to him that includes a link to the ACC website and a link to the article.  What a brave new world!  Congratulations to you, Jessica and the ACC Library, for being such an important part of the new ACC!

Best wishes,

Joan

Subject: [ARLIS-L] Redesigned website for the American Craft Council

Looking for information on contemporary craft and the decorative arts?

The American Craft Council (ACC) recently launched its newly-redesigned website,  www.craftcouncil.org. At this one-stop site for all things craft, you can read blogs and full-text articles from American Craft magazine, browse the ACC Library catalog and view its Digital Collections, find out all about ACC shows and educational programs, read artist profiles, watch videos interviews, and keep tabs on craft events across the country. The website is designed to connect the dots between the myriad ways the ACC champions craft and allow us to deepen our engagement with our members and the greater craft community.

The ACC Library Digital Collections, which also launched recently, presently contains more than 4,000 images and publications from the ACC archive covering contemporary craft history from the 1940s.  Four collections make up this open access CONTENTdm database:

ACC History Collection: photographs and texts documenting Council events from the 1940s, including historic national craft conferences, shows and publications

Your Portable Museum Image Collection: a selection of slide images from the Museum of Contemporary Crafts/American Craft Museum, previously distributed as kits by the Council from the 1950s-1980s

Exhibition Catalog Collection: a selection of catalogs documenting contemporary craft exhibitions (1953-1990) held by the ACC at the Museum of Contemporary Crafts/American Craft Museum

ACC Newsletter Collection:  newsletters produced and distributed by the Council from 1957-1986 documenting ACC activities, craft events, and people across the United States

Our collections are works in progress, and we welcome ideas for content that could be useful to the field. Contact [log in to unmask] with any questions/suggestions. Thanks for checking us out!
