Deirdre Spencer, Head, Fine Arts Library at the University of Michigan has published a brief essay in a new book entitled "The 21st-Century Black Librarian in America: Issues and Challenges" (Scarecrow Press, 2012). This collection of essays is the third in a series dedicated to Dr. E.J. Josey, a pioneer in librarianship and civil rights, and includes articles by library educators, graduate students, retired librarians, public library trustees, veteran librarians, and recent library school graduates.
