we would like to announce the recipients of the two SC travel awards.  Please welcome Rachel Rohac and Cathryn Ziefle to ARLIS in Toronto!

Student Travel Award

Rachel Rohac is a student in the Masters program in Library and Information Science at UCLA and currently works as a Reference Desk Assistant at the UCLA Arts Library. She previously interned at the Western Costume Research Library in North Hollywood and earned her undergraduate degree Summa cum Laude in Humanities at California State University, Northridge. With her extensive involvement in professional student organizations, she is eager to attend the ARLIS/NA conference and learn more about collection development with a focus on academic and special collections.  

 

Judith A. Hoffberg Travel Award

Cathryn Ziefle is the solo librarian at the San Diego campus of Woodbury University and this will be her first ARLIS/NA conference.  In Toronto, Cathryn will present a poster session on serving minority students and students who are first in their families to pursue higher education through various outreach activities, as well as through redesigning the library's spaces.  Her session is titled Learning to Color Outside the Lines: Creating a Space my First Year on the Job
