designinform € Design Abstracts Retrospective € Design ProFILES € ReVIEW € designinform Research Guides Hi We have acquired a bound volume of a journal entitled The Art Student: An Illustrated Magazine Conducted by Members of the Birmingham School of Art. The journal was published in Birmingham [England] between 1885-1887 and contains an interesting compilation of articles on the fine and decorative arts, including examples of work by students at the school. The format and standard of production of the journal is comparable with any of the leading contemporary art serial publications such as the Magazine of Art and the Art Journal We will be digitizing the journal for the designinform database ReVIEW [digital library]. Unfortunately the volume we have has continuous pagination [160pp] and does not contain the title page of any of the issues of the journal. I would be extremely grateful if anyone who has The Art Student could send us a scan of a title page of one of the issues. I¹m not sure of the frequency of the journal but we can work this out later.
