Dear fellow conference goers, There is still time to sign up to participate in the Conference Networking Program for the Toronto Conference (if you haven't already!). We are especially in need of volunteers who are more experienced conference attendees. Participating in Conference Networking is an easy, non-time consuming way to be professionally involved. The estimated time commitment is a couple hours, spread over the course of the conference, and all that's required of you is a little networking, described below. For ARLIS/NA veterans, this is a fine opportunity to make a significant impact in your profession at a personal level. Conference veterans are expected to contact their newbie prior to the conference, meet with them the first or second day at the conference, and check in with them during events, such as parties. Possible topics to discuss include the structure and workings of the organization and the conference, giving conference-attending tips, how to make the most of the conference experience, and introducing new members to others at any events to help that person build his or her own network within the organization. Prerequisites to be a mentor are to have attended one or more recent ARLIS conference and be reasonably well acquainted with the organization. The registration form for Conference Networking is online: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/viewform?formkey=dFN1REVsRXNpT1Q5SGVVMDV Dc2dmalE6MQ For first or second time conference goers: If you are attending your first or second ARLIS/NA conference you probably have questions or need help developing your professional network. The Conference Networking Program provides you with an experienced ARLIS/NA member to show you the ropes and introduce you to new colleagues. The only prerequisite for newcomers is to be a first or second time conference attendee. Those requesting Conference Networking partners will be matched based on the information drawn from the registration form by coordinators from the Professional Development Committee. Both mentors and newcomers will be notified before the conference. This is a fun and collegial program that has had much success and positive feedback. Both veterans and newcomers have found the program greatly enhances their conference experience. Please submit the registration form: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/viewform?formkey=dFN1REVsRXNpT1Q5SGVVMDV Dc2dmalE6MQ or visit the volunteers page for a link to the form: http://www.arlisna.org/toronto2012/volunteers.html.
