Dear colleagues,
Last spring art librarians and visual resource professionals convened in
Minneapolis for the 2011 joint VRA + ARLIS/NA conference. There we hosted a
well-attended open forum for individuals interested in exploring future
collaborations between the two organizations.

*We are pleased to announce two more events related to organizational
collaboration, to be held at the upcoming 2012 conferences:*

   - A discussion at ARLIS/NA in Toronto, scheduled for the second half of
the Visual Resources Division meeting on Saturday March 31, 2012, 1:30pm -
   2:30pm.

   - A session at VRA in Albuquerque: “Broadening Organizational Horizons:
Collaborative Opportunities Between VRA and ARLIS/NA,” on Saturday April
   21, 2012 10:00am - 11:30am.

These events seek to continue the dialog on organizational collaboration in
a structured way that is open to the membership. We also seek to establish
actionable ideas about how to move forward. In addition, your colleagues
will speak about collaboration activities that they have engaged in at the
local, regional and national levels. Finally, these two events will provide
attendees an opportunity to contribute to the discussion via an "open mic"
brainstorming session.

We cordially invite you to weigh in on some of these ideas via a wiki we
have created for this purpose at http://arlisnavracollab.pbworks.com.

The wiki includes some important background information -- including a pdf
of the ARLIS/NA-VRA Joint Task Force on Collaboration’s Final Report.

We invite all interested members to visit the wiki -- whether you are able
to attend the conference events or not. We also encourage you to join the
wiki if you would like to comment on your experiences and ideas about
collaborative activities. Please feel free to add your comments before,
during and/or after the two conferences.

How to Join the Wiki: http://arlisnavracollab.pbworks.com
In the upper right corner of the home page there is a link "To join this
workspace, request access.” Once granted access you will be able contribute
to the comments section on each page.

Please also feel free to share any thoughts, comments or concerns directly
with us via telephone or e-mail. We look forward to seeing you in Toronto
and Albuquerque or on the wiki!
