From the 2012 Chair of the Museums, Arts, and Humanities Division of SLA:

As an early treatment to a session at the SLA 2012 annual conference in Chicago on 21st century skills for museums and libraries, I will be moderating a workshop focused on museum librarianship at the 2012 Computers In Libraries conference.  Details about the workshop are included below. If you or someone you know is a member of ARLIS/NA, VRA or other organizations that have members that may be interested, feel free to forward this note to them. I can be contacted directly with any questions about it. Registration for the workshop and the conference is open now. I hope you can participate!

W24 – Museum Strategies & Practices for the 21st Century
9:00 AM – 12:00 PM, Saturday March 24, 2012
Moderator: Richard P. Hulser, Chief Librarian, Research & Collections, Natural History Museum of Los Angeles County

This interactive half-day workshop focuses on leading edge strategies and practices for engaging the communities of cultural institutions. It focuses on creating active and visible services that maximize the visitor experience; integrating organizational programs to connect artifacts with library and archive collections; using new and emerging technologies to optimize user experience for scientists, researchers, and the general public. Join with colleagues to share best practices and to rethink cultural institution systems to effectively link and promote programs and services in a positive, and active, way.
