Introduction to Book Repair Thursday and Friday, March 15th and 16th 2012 Kristen St.John, Instructor UCLA Library Conservation Center This two day workshop will introduce participants to basic book repair for circulating or general collections. Thursday, day one: Book nomenclature and common types of damage, hinge tightening, hinge repair, page replacement, and tipping-in loose pages. Friday, day two: Introduction to adhesives, page mending, hinging-in loose pages, book repair selection and decision making, and how to set up a repair station. Kristen St.John is the Collections Conservator for the UCLA Library. She has led several workshops for LAPNet and other organizations in the care and repair of library and archival materials. Workshop cost: $150.00 Participants will receive basic tools required for book repair.
