Vasari Project Intern

The Vasari Project of the Miami-Dade Public Library System offers an exciting opportunity for students or others interested in contemporary art, art history, library special collections, and curatorial/archival work. The Vasari Project Archive documents Miami’s art history from the 1940s through the present. Interns will receive hands-on experience. The internship is unpaid but may be done for course credit. Student applicants are responsible for arranging with their colleges and universities to receive academic credit.

 

Responsibilities and tasks include receiving donations, preparing acknowledgement letters, processing, shelving, and filing archival materials; scanning and preparing materials for digitization, assisting with research and special projects, assisting with occasional events and programs, and general clerical work as needed.

 

Qualifications: Solid research, analytical, and writing skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, online communication, and basic digital imaging. Experience with or knowledge of art, art history, cultural studies, and/or working with special collections. All Miami-Dade Public Library System volunteers and interns must be 18 or older and submit to a background check.

Interns must be able to:

·     -Intern for 5-10/hours a week Monday through Friday between 9am and 5pm (exact days/times are flexible contingent on staff availability)

·     -Commit to the internship for a minimum of four months

·     -Lift heavy boxes up to 40 pounds
