I spent the first ten days of December in The Hague, testifying as an expert witness for the prosecution in the genocide trial of former Bosnian Serb leader Dr Radovan Karadzic <www.icty.org/x/cases/karadzic/cis/en/cis_karadzic_en.pdf>. My testimony at the UN war crimes tribunal for the former Yugoslavia (ICTY) was based on the documentation I have amassed over the past decade and a half about the widespread and systematic destruction of cultural and religious heritage during the Balkan wars of the 1990s.
