An exciting roster of public events is being planned in connection with the Grolier Club exhibition "Printing for Kingdom, Empire, & Republic: Treasures from the Archives of the Imprimerie Nationale," on show from December 7,
2011 - February 4, 2012. (For more details on the exhibition itself, see "Forthcoming Exhibitions" under "Exhibitions" on the homepage of the Grolier Club website: www.grolierclub.org) 

December 7, 8, 9, at 3 pm: Demonstrations of printing processes by experts from the Imprimerie Nationale's Atelier du Livre d'Art et de l'Estampe
(ALAE): 

	Wednesday, December 7 - Nelly Gable (Head of the Cabinet de Poinçons, ALAE/IN, and one of the last remaining punch-cutters) will give a demonstration of punch-cutting, striking/justification of matrices, and typecasting 

	Thursday, December 8 - Elena Ceneda (Compositor for Oriental Typefaces, ALAE/IN) will give demonstrate hand composition of oriental/non-Latin fonts 

	Friday, December 9 - Franck Jalleau (Type Designer, ALAE/IN) will demonstrate the digitization of proprietary typefaces

December 13, 14, 15, at noon: Lunchtime tours of the exhibition by curator
H. George Fletcher.   

December 14, at 6 pm: Club Meeting. Curator H. George Fletcher will speak about the exhibition.  

January 17, 18, 19, at 2 pm: Lunchtime tours of the exhibition by Lucile Theveneau, Head of Publications and Exhibitions at the Imprimerie Nationale's Atelier du Livre d'Art et de l'Estampe (ALAE). 

January 24: Day-long colloquium -- "The Imprimerie Nationale and the History of Printing." 9:30 am-5 pm in Florence Gould Hall and Tinker Auditorium, French Institute/Alliance Française, 22 East 60th Street (across the street from The Grolier Club), with reception to follow at the Club.
