The Arlis/ANZ (Art Libraries Society of Australia and New Zealand) 2012 conference will be held at the National Gallery of Victoria, Melbourne, 6-8 September 2012 with the theme:
"Collaborations: artists, scholars and libraries in a research ecosystem"
We are calling for papers that expand on this theme, share different perspectives and provoke speculation on the future development of, and collaboration between artists, art librarianship and visual resource professionals in a rapidly changing information environment. Individuals and groups are invited to submit proposals that inspire, provoke critical exchange and debate, or make practical observations in relation to the broad streams:
Archive: collection imperatives, resource development, conservation and preservation, documenting the ephemeral, ERA (Excellence in Research for Australia), data management.
Culture: disciplines and user groups, interdisciplinary projects, pathways to access, use and utility, seeking new perspectives.
Image: images and words, image sources, image description, image search, image rights.
Medium: the physical object in a digital age, new media, digitisation projects, digital content and rights management.
Space: make space not war! the physical meets the virtual, environment and behaviour, design and serendipity
We encourage proposals for papers from librarians, art scholars, artists, curators, critics, art & design students, architects, visual resources professionals.
250 word abstract to be submitted via the online form by 28 February 2012.
