Dear ARLIS/NA Collective Wisdom,

I am trying to help a library user find an audio recording of George Grosz speaking about art.  Any audio file of his voice would probably be appreciated.

While the researcher has found some great leads in print (see below)…no luck on actually audio or video w/sound material.

Please respond to me directly ([log in to unmask]), not ARLIS_L

Any ideas to move this research forward?

Thanks, as always, for you help.

BACKGROUND:

Grosz, George [Georg]

(b Berlin, 26 July 1893; d W. Berlin, 6 July 1959).

Taught at Art Students League, NewYork, from 1933-1955.

Grosz papers at Harvard: http://oasis.lib.harvard.edu/oasis/deliver/~hou00452 (MS Ger 206, Grosz, George 1893-1959. George Grosz papers, Houghton Library, Harvard College Library) has texts of a few radio broadcasts but no actual audio files:

* Interview with WOR Radio (NY) on Wednesday, August 17th, 1932 at 11:30 am

* NY Radio (unknown station), August 15th, 1932

* A 1942 interview on NY radio (unknown station, but some kind of program sponsored by the Metropolitan Museum of Art) that was titled “Art under Hitler”

George Grosz wrote in his journal that he did a radio interview during a 1952 trip to Dallas, but the patron doesn't have a full citation (what radio station, when, etc.)

Happy Thanksgiving to all!
