VRA must purchase a membership with the option to use funding from the
travel awards to do this.

For 2012, we are fortunate to have generous financial support from
sponsors and funds provided by the membership:

   * The Kathe Hicks Albrecht award of $850 for a first-time conference
attendee
   * Two New Horizons awards of $850 each. These awards areaimed at
members in the following categories: solo VR professionals, part-time VR
professionals, geographically isolated VR professionals, VR professionals
in smaller institutions, and/or first-time attendees
   * The Gallery Systems award of $800 for a Museum Visual Resources
professional
   * The Davis Art award of $250 for an applicant with partial funding
   * The Joseph C. Taormina Memorial award of $250 for an applicant with
partial funding

enrolled in an accredited degree program and considering a career in
visualresources
   * $4,000 in Tansey fund awards of $250 to $850 each; an international
award in the amount of $1000

More awards may become available and will be announced. Also, stay tuned
and watch the VRA website for further details about the conference.

Hi Amanda,

Please adjust the original message as you suggest for the other lists.
It would be great if you could compile a list of MLIS programs to add to
our current list (attached) and also send out the message to MLIS
programs.

Thanks for your help and input!
Heidi

Subject: Re: Request for travel award announcement posters; Update on
Tansey event

Hi all,

I subscribe to ARLIS/NA, MCN, and SAA, and am happy to post the
announcement to these lists. I'll send them out this afternoon. Should I
just copy/paste from the original announcement? Or do some of these
organizations not need as much information about the history of the awards
(ie, what has changed since last year, etc)?

I can also compile a list of MLIS programs in the US and contact
information, and then send out an email, if you'd like. The only thing I
can think of is to collect this info from ALA's directory:
http://www.ala.org/Template.cfm?Section=lisdirb&Template=/cfapps/lisdir/in
d
ex.cfm

I like the idea of a performance for the Tansey event, rather than a
speaker - just my 2 cents!

Thanks,
Amanda

Hi TA Committee,

You may have seen the travel award announcement go out to the listserv
and the application form go live yesterday. Now we as a committe have to
get the notice out to other related listservs. Are any of you members of
the following groups?:

ARLIS/NA
CAA
ImageLib
MCN
Museum-L
SAA

If you can post the announcement to any of these groups please let us
know.

We also have a list of Canadian MLIS programs but not one for U.S.
programs. Does anyone know of a way to contact U.S. MLIS programs as a
group or would like to compile a list and contact them individually?

Tansey Event news

We're negotiating with Alma Flamenca dance troupe from the University of
New Mexico
(http://theatre.unm.edu/academics/production_opportunities.php) and a
speaker/presenter from the Fractal Foundation
(http://fractalfoundation.org/). Please look at their websites and chime
in on what you think is the best option and will draw the biggest
audience. The Tansey event will be on Friday, April 20 at 8:30 in the
hotel using food and beverage in the conference hotel contract.

Thanks,
Heidi
